Thanksgiving Preschool Activities


Thanksgiving Day is celebrated in different countries of the world at different times.

In Canada it is celebrated on the 2nd Monday of October. In the United States it is celebrated on the 4th Thursday of November. Thanksgiving Day in Canada falls on the same day as Columbus Day in the United States.

Thanksgiving Day Lesson Plan:

  • Include an activity on turkeys and fun facts about them
  • Introduce the colors orange, yellow and red
  • Help children learn pre-math by teaching them Thanksgiving songs and poems that include numbers.
  • Print out these coloring pages for the children to color and use them to decorate your classroom.
  • Help the children develop their creativity and fine motor skills with these craft activities for

    Put the turkey back together again!

  • Cut out pattern of the different parts of the turkey.
  • A head, body, face, feet,and 6 feathers
  • Hide the parts around the house
  • The children have to find the parts and put the Thanksgiving turkey back together again.

    What am I?
    Find pictures of different animals and glue them on a regular size sheet of paper.

  • One animal per sheet
  • Tape an animal picture on every child's back.
  • Each child has to guess which animal is taped on his/her back.
  • The other kids take turns and try to help each other guess which animal by imitating it.
  • Depending on the age group, you can ask them to describe the animal by using descriptive words only, or by using the animal's sound.
