Preschool Craft Recipes That are Fun and Easy

Finger Paint Recipes

finger painting Finger Paint #1

Supplies:
2 cups flour
4 cups cold water
Food coloring or dry tempera

Mix flour and water and cook over low heat until thick.
Cool.
Add a pinch of salt.
Add coloring of your choice

Store in covered in a jar in refrigerator.

Kool-Aid Finger Paint

Supplies:
2 cups flour
2 packs unsweetened Kool-Aid
1/2 cup salt
3 cups boiling water
3 tablespoons oil

Mix wet ingredients into dry ingredients.

Jell-O Finger Paint

Supplies:
Flavored Jell-O of your choice
Hot water


Mix enough hot water (not too much) until mix has the
consistency of finger paint. Allow to cool before play.

Pudding Finger Paint

Supplies:
Instant vanilla or your choice pudding
Food coloring

Mix pudding according to directions.
Add food coloring to Vanilla pudding if desired .



Playdough Recipes



Playdough #1

1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
1 cup water
2 tablespoons oil
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
Juice from carrot, spinach, or beet

Mix flour, salt and oil, and slowly add the water. Cook over medium heat, and stir until the dough becomes stiff.
Spoon onto plate or wax paper and let cool.
Knead the playdough until you get consistency.
Add a bit of the juice of your choice for color.

Playdough #2

4 cups flour
1/4 cup powdered tempera color of your choice
1/4 cup salt
1 1/2 cups water
1 tablespoon oil

Mix flour, powdered paint and salt together.
Mix water and oil, and food coloring if desired. Gradually stir the water and oil mix into the dry mix. Knead the playdough as you add the liquid.
Adjust the consistency by adding more water if it's too stiff, or more flour if it's too sticky.
